Description

Golden Beetroot Seeds

[55 days] A variety that dates back to the 1820s or before, golden beets are light and sweet—so much so that many prefer them to red beets. The roots have a fine texture and and stay tender even when large. In the kitchen they’re simply amazing roasted, beautiful when pickled, and honestly fare well in just about any application that calls for beets. A bonus is that they won’t stain your hands (or turn your poop purple). Also, the greens are so tasty that some people grow them just for the greens and claim that sautéed they taste better than kale or chard. (We’ll leave that up to you to decide.)

Easy to grow with a long harvest window, these are a must for any garden.

Common Questions

What is eating my Golden beetroot leaves and roots? If you are checking on your beets and finding that roots are eaten, it is almost always a rodent like mice and voles that are causing this damage. If your seedlings are being eaten then usually flea beetles are attacking the leaves creating small holes.

How do you know when to harvest Golden beetroots? Beetroot is usually ready to harvest after 8 weeks. Their roots can be harvested at any size that you think, you shouldn't leave them in the ground too long though. Leaving them in the ground can make them become tough.

What should I grow my Golden beetroot next to? Never plant your Golden beetroots near field mustard, this can cause damage to your crops and make them unharvestable. Beets grow the best when they are planted with Beans, Lettuce, Onions, Cabbage and Radish.
