Description

Golden California Wonder Sweet Pepper Seeds

[70 days] Popular since the 1920s, this heirloom golden California Wonder is much like its green/red sibling in shape—blocky, smooth, and blunt-ended, and in growing aspect—22-26’ upright plants that set continuously throughout the season. It’s the colour and flavour that makes this beauty a delight. While the standard California Wonder peppers turn from green to red, these turn a bright gold. Their flavour is considerably milder and sweeter, making the pepper of choice for those who don’t like the slight bitterness of traditional green peppers.

Like its sibling, this golden version of the California Wonder is resistant to the Tobacco Mosaic Virus, and will consistently produce nice large peppers throughout the growing season.

Excellent raw or cooked, stuffed or sautéed.

Common Questions

How tall do California Wonder plants grow? California Wonder sweet pepper plants grow about 2 feet high, growing upright and offering fruits that are about 4 inches wide.

Are California wonder peppers hot? No. The fruits of the California Wonder plant are sweet and have no capsaicin which makes peppers hot.

Why is my yellow Golden California Wonder pepper green? Don’t worry all peppers start off green. As they start to ripen the pepper will slowly turn to a bright yellow pepper. You can still pick and eat the peppers early and enjoy them as unripe green bell pepper.
