Our Top Halloween Pumpkin Seeds

Growing your own pumpkins for Halloween is something we have done with our children here at Growseed for many years. It can be very fun and rewarding as well as teaching them a range of lessons from growing food, caring and nurturing a plant as well as having a routine to follow, not to mention the most important lesson of all.. patience.

Nothing comes close to that satisfaction of watching your child grow their own pumpkin and then carving it out ready for Halloween.

The best time to sow pumpkin seeds.

The traditional time for sowing pumpkin seeds in the UK is around mid May to late June however that’s normally for harvesting a pumpkin to eat much later in the year. IF you want to grow the perfect Halloween pumpkin we recommend sowing from March to April.

This allows time for the pumpkin to form, turn a nice deep orange, allows for an earlier harvest should we get a colder winter and will be plenty firm making it ideal for carving.
