A super late-season Calabrese-style variety which stands well in the garden until needed.
[200 days] A well-producing autumn broccoli, this Calabrese starts off with a tightly packed, dome-shaped main head and then produces copious side shoots after the main head has been harvested. The main heads can be let to stand in the garden for quite a while without any loss of quality (up to about 800g).
Samson F1 has a good tolerance to cold, which makes it superb late-season variety. Best spring-sown—it’s not recommended for overwintering (i.e. September sowings).
Is Samson F1 Broccoli bolt resistant? Yes. This broccoli is bolt resistant will stand firm in the garden until ready to harvest with little to no risk of bolting.
Is Samson F1 easy to grow? Once Samson F1 broccoli is established the plant is easy to grow. Do not disturb their roots and make sure you keep the soil moist as your broccoli will not take well to dry soil. This can result in smaller heads when it is time to harvest.
How do I stop pigeons and butterflies from eating my Samson F1? Make sure you protect your Samson F1 crops with netting, polytunnels and greenhouses where possible. Pigeons and Butterflies love nibbling broccoli and you will need to protect your crops properly!
