Often referred to as Black Russian kale, Nero Di Toscana is an Italian curly kale with dark green leaves.
Best enjoyed overwinter for spring cropping when traditional harvests are lower, this variety grows in tight formations making it ideal for growing in small spaces. A high source of vitamin A and C. Can be enjoyed cold or cooked!
Just like other kale variety’s this can be enjoyed fully matured or used for baby leaf productions.
Nero Di Toscanan kale spacing. As this variety grows long tight clumped leaf’s you can sow this variety half the normal spacing recommended for other kale varieties.
How do you take care of Nero Di Toscana Kale when growing from seed? It is advised that Kale should be sown in full sun and given half an inch of water a week. Your Nero Di Toscana kale vegetable seeds may need more water in the warmer climates and less in colder temperatures. Kale tends to do better in colder conditions but can still be grown in warmer climates.
Is it possible for Nero Di Toscana Kale to regrow every year? Kale is a biennial vegetable that usually has a 2 year cycle, continuing to produce edible leaves throughout the winter. The Nero Di Toscana kale can go dormant during the colder months of the year with the leaves dying, however their root ecosystem will remain active and alive.
