[55 days] Also known as Rote Ruben, Detroit 2 Crimson Globe is favourite of home gardeners and market gardeners alike. As the name suggests, it’s an improved version of the popular Detroit beetroot, producing deep-red globe-shaped roots, dark-red flesh, and red-veined leaves, all of which taste great. In fact, the high sugar content in Detroit 2 make it a superb beet for baking or eating raw in salads. The leaves are quite nutritious and are great steamed or sautéed.
Can be used as both as an early or maincrop and grows well in a variety of soils. Does well when faced with Cercospora leaf spot and downy mildew, and is also resistant to bolting.
