Snowball Cauliflower Seeds
[65 days from transplant] One of the earliest cauliflowers, Snowball is a heavy yielding, heirloom variety producing large 6-8” heads and beautiful, uniform, snow-white curds. The taste is quite a bit milder than what you tend to find in the store, and when cooked the curds are superbly tender.
When grown in cooler weather (spring/fall), the outer leaves self-blanch the curds. Snowball is resistant to downy mildew and an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects
Stir fry, steam, or serve raw with dips. It freezes well, too.
How can you protect Snowball plants from pests? You can use row covers to protext your cabbage seedlings from pests like cabbage worms, maggots and beetles. You can pick cabbage worms off by head, eliminate slugs and snails with bait.
What can you plant next to Snowball Cauliflower? Cauliflower loves being planted next to beans due to the nitrogen needed in the soil. Beans provide the soil around extra nitrogen which helps your cauliflower thrive when developing.
How many heads of cauliflower do you get from a plant? Cauliflower produces one head and grows at it's best in temperatures around 16-18°C.
