Description

Douce Provence Pea Seeds

One of the hardier and more versatile pea varieties, Douce Provence produces large crops of sweet, succulent peas on compact plants growing to just 75 cm (30 in) in height. The peas themselves are small, but delightfully sweet, succulent and abundant. Great as a “First Early” or almost any time of the year. They even over-winter with protection.

Common Questions

Why are my Douce Provence peas rotting? Your seeds can fail to germinate if they're too dry as there isn't enough moisture to break the hard shell. If you water the soil too much then your seeds will be too wet and will probably rot before the germination cycle can complete. The best way to germinate your Douce Provence is by keeping your soil evenly moist and using well-drained compost.

Do you plant sprouted Douce Provence peas up or down? You should always plant your germinated seeds root down, lightly covering them with soil. Make sure you provide enough heat and direct sunlight to complete the germination cycle.

How high will my Douce Provence pea plant grow? Your Douce Provence will grow to about 45-60cm tall and although the plant can support itself you may need to provide some support to keep your crop tidy. Your Douce Provence should be mature after 90 days and be ready to harvest.
