Sprite French Bean Seeds

Sprite French beans are an elegant variety of dwarf broad bean bred in continental Europe. This variety produces smooth, slender, dark green pods, around 15cm long. Being a dwarf variety, the plants themselves are compact and bushy, and unlike runner beans, need no additional support. Sprite French beans are completely stringless and very tender, with a many find the flavor to be particularly fine. The yields of long, straight pods are abundant, and if you’re looking for a great container bean that freezes, you need look no further.

Super easy to grow, Sprites, once started and planted in their final growing spot, need next to no care. Like all members of the legume family, Sprite French beans leave the soil with added nitrogen. They can also withstand dry conditions better than many other bean crops.

Germination 7-14 days

Common Questions

What vegetable seeds should Sprite french beans not be planted next to? French beans should not be planted near veggies that do not do well with extra nitrogen, like tomatoes and peppers. Sprite French beans also don't grow well next to beetroot, chives, onions and garlic as these can stunt the beans stalk.

What are good companion plants for Sprite french beans? French beans are fantastic companions to many vegetables like broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, kale and peas. They benefit from the extra nitrogen levels that are given to the surrounding soil from the growth of beans.

Does Sprint French Beans require support? No, Sprite is a dwarf french bean plant meaning they are self supporting and require no staking or climbing frame.
