Roma VF Tomato Seeds

[75 days] A determinate, paste-style tomato, Roma VF has thick, meaty flesh and relatively few seeds. It was originally introduced in 1963 by the Joseph Harris Seed Company of Rochester, New York, who crossed a Roma tomato with a California Red Top VR 9. As a result, the Roma VF is resistant to both Verticillium and Fusarium wilts (hence the “VF”). The vines are compact and yield copious amounts of 3-inch long fruits that come out either pear- or plum-shaped. Set in a sunny location and get ready for a large harvest.

Common Questions

How do you grow Roma VF tomatoes? Roma VT tomato plants should be started indoors 7-8 weeks before the last frost of the season. Sow your seeds into nutritious, moist soil and place them in a sun facing windowsill. Your Roma tomato seeds will have germinated after 14 days and will have started to sprout.

How many Roma tomatoes do you get per plant? Roma VF tomato plants produce a high yield with their fruits. Your tomato plant will produce about 15 cherry red tomatoes per cluster, offering around 200 fruits per plant every growing season.

The best ketchup tomato. Roma tomatoes are perfect in our opinion for making ketchup! The slightly acidic taste once processed is counterbalanced by the sugar added to make the perfect ketchup - the unique acidic taste counterbalanced by the added sugar makes for a not-so-sweet or sickly sauce.

Why are my Roma tomatoes small? Common causes are plant stress which is usually a result of lack of watering or irregular watering times. Water daily (twice on hot days) and give each plant a good soaking to improve crop yield.
