Description

Paris Silver Skin Seeds

[70 days] Excellent both as a spring onion and a bulbing onion, the Paris Silver Skin is best known for its small pure-white bulbs that are well esteemed as 'cocktail' onions or for cooking whole in casseroles and stews. As spring onions, the Paris Silver Skin has a sweet, mild flavour and a delicious crunch. As a bulb, it gets even sweeter.

These particular onions are incredibly easy to grow, and will flourish even on light, poor soil.

Highly recommended by the RHS as an attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects when allowed to flower. (So if a few of your plants go a little too far over and you have the room, let them flower instead of pulling them up straight away.)

Height: 45cm (18"). Spread: 10cm (4").

Common Questions

How long does it take Paris Silver Skin take to germinate? Paris Silver Skin onions need a temperature of about 10-15°C to germinate properly, which takes up to 14 days to complete.

Why are my Paris Silver Skin onions not forming bulbs? Onions need to be watered regularly and provided lots of nutrients before being established. If these aren't provided or there is too much nitrogren in the soil then you onion plants will fail to produce bulbs for harvesting.

When should I harvest my Paris Silver Skin onions? You should be lifting your onions before the foliage completely dies. Once you begin harvesting make sure to leave in full sun outdoors for two weeks to ripe.
