Description

Meteor Pea Seeds

[60–70 days] Meteor is a compact, hardy variety of round-seeded pea, specially bred for overwintering and early sowings. It’s one of the few reliable options for autumn planting, producing a strong crop in early spring—well ahead of most other varieties. With excellent frost tolerance and strong growth, it’s ideal for growing in the UK’s unpredictable weather.

The plants grow to a manageable height of around 45cm, making them perfect for small gardens or containers, and usually don’t require support. The pods are packed with sweet, flavourful peas that are ideal for picking fresh, freezing, or using straight in the kitchen. Whether sown in autumn for a head start or early spring for quick results, Meteor is a dependable choice for any gardener.

Height: 45cm (18"). Spread: 25–30cm (10–12").

Common Questions

Can Meteor peas be sown in autumn? Yes! Meteor is one of the best varieties for overwintering, especially in mild areas or with a little protection like fleece or cloches.

Do Meteor peas need staking? Generally no—plants stay short and self-supporting, though a little low support can help keep pods clean in wet weather.

When will I harvest autumn-sown Meteor? You’ll typically get your first crop in early spring, often several weeks ahead of spring-sown types.
