Basil Classic Italian Herb Seeds

[75 days] Classic Italian basil is one of the most popular sweet basils on the planet. Its rich aroma and high oil content allow it to beautifully season just about any dish, and the flowers are great for garnishing drinks, salads, soups and desserts. This basil is super easy to grow, produces a huge crop of leaves, needs very little other than good heat and sunshine, and is relatively slow to bolt. Use fresh in sauces, salads or pesto, or dry and use as a seasoning.

Common Questions

How do you grow large Italian Basil leaves? Basil can be grown on a sunny windowsill late in winter or direct sown into soil in spring. If you're planning to start your Basil indoors then sow your seeds 8 weeks before the last frost of spring. Your seeds will germinate and begin to sprout after 5-10 days. Basil can be transplanted to the garden when they have 2 sets of leaves and need about 15 inches of space, or the herb grows great in containers!

How do I get rid of insects on my Basil plants leaves? Aphids, spiders and fly infestations can cause serious damage to your Basil plants, leaving holes in all of your leaves leaving them inedible. You can use a mixture of washing up liquid and water to spray on your plant to remove all the bugs, make sure you spray the underside of the leaves too!

Do Classic Italian Basil need full sun? Basil thrives in the warmer temperatures and loves to be in the direct line of morning sun. Water regularly and provide some form of shade for the warmest summer afternoons!
