White Lisbon Hardy Spring Onion Seeds
[60-70 days] Popular for more than 3 centuries (it’s been in circulation since 1787), the winter-hardy White Lisbon will give you spring onions virtually all year long, but is especially bred to withstand cold. It’s incredibly reliable down to -15F and produces beautiful long white stems topped with bright green leaves as early as March. Their compact size makes them perfect for containers or allotments short on space. And if you’re into companion planting, they’re easy to tuck in between other plants.
Flavour-wise the winter-hardy White Lisbon has both a mild onion flavour and the ‘bite’ that onion aficionados know and love. They’re of course, fantastic in salads, but will perform well wherever spring onions are called for. For the mildest flavour, harvest when young—they become more pungent as they develop.
